You can buy precast concrete piers at Home Depot,Lowes or look in phone book for suppliers. You can also make them but I’ve bought and used them in the past. The lunch boxs would rust out fast, with in a year or two.

I wouldn’t use metal because of the rust.
I would also advise against using old telephone poles cut up because of the creosote they put on them. Any wood treated with formaldehyde or anything else would poison your fish.

if they are plastic you are fine, you can also use plastic crates or pond plant baskets with stones in them. A new plastic bucket with clean stones in it will work well too, just remove the metal handle and wash the stones very, very well. I use black granite landscape rocks sold in a bag at Home Depot. A black bucket virtually disappears, a plus in my opinion, and if you drill holes in the bottom and fill it will stones it become an extra filter for your pond, helping to keep it clean naturally. The pond plant container is best as it has a lot of ventilation but it costs more and the bucket with big holes drilled in or crate works great too.

I just use inverted clay pots. Another safe thing is a brick. No concrete
